Bread alone is not enough — growing wise as one grows old
(Why Growing up requires more than nutrition)
The man who only consumes food to grow and neglects his mind will end up a fool. — DrAzu
Growing up requires more than nutrition.
Growing up also requires a healthy combination of information and intuition.
Jesus captured it aptly when he replied satan that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
It's not enough to grow up, we must endeavour to grow wise.
Growing up leads us closer to growing old.
But the value of old age is not in the length of days but in the artefacts or results that wisdom produces during our lifetime.
It's not in the duration of one's life, but in the "donations" — we get from your life.
Let's make it a daily affair, not only prayers for daily bread but to be daily read (pun intended).
That way, as we grow up, we'll also grow wise to give value to our old age.
